I only get about 2 of 5 bars at my house, and that's being lucky as it can
drop to one or none completely. I would go with Voda, but their lack of
free texts that o2 and TM offer puts me off. Are Orange good for a signal?

Voda do unlimited texts and 500 mins for £40 a month now if
    that's any good?

Thanks for the reply. I have used the coverage checker, but I find them to
be unreliable - Especially the TM one. It quoted me 3 of 5 bars at home,
and I only managed to get 1, and if I was lucky 2! I was just wondering
what other Orange user's opinions were. I used to have an Orange PAYG Sim,
but have lost it and have ordered another whilst I search for it.

And sorry, I was initially talking about PAYG...It's been a long week :-P

Wow. What an amazing work of fiction. Apparently I'm in a "3G Service
Area and high quality voice " rather than a "flicker repeatedly
between 2 and 3G thus scrambling most of your phone calls" area.

If your in Wales the only network you can use most of the time in any remote
area is Orange, and the signal doesnt drop as much in built up areas or when
    driving. Always seems good signal.
This seems to contradict what people have said about general UK coverage
    though.

I get a poor signal in the kitchen, but apart from that, it's fine.

    Re: Orange good signal wise?

Thanks for the replies so far all, some made me chuckle as I know my
question was a bit blunt and open for replies such as those posted - It's
been a hectic week for me!

I've been flicking through the Vodafone website and the Virgin website (I'm
not going back to them though, their network gives the worst signal of all
at my house!) and noticed that Virgin have two options for their "Pay
Monthly" packages - A contract or a month by month option. Looking at the
simpacks on Vodafone, it looks like they operate a similar offer, but I'm
not entirely 100% sure and would be grateful if someone could clarify.

    http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/index.cfm...cks.paymonthly

Is it like Virgin in terms of having 30 days locked into the "Contract" but
after the month's up I can cacel?

Also, another question has just literally popped into my head - Do Voda
offer a Student Tariff? I'm currently still in full-time ed. at College and
wonder if they run such an offer.

    Thanks again! :-)

Thanks James, I missed that one! When I add one to the basket however, it
says "Sorry, this item is no longer available. Please use the browse for
more products link to continue shopping."

Personally though, from comparing the Student £20 and the normal 30 day £20
offers, it makes sense for me to go with the normal 30 day offer. I was
hoping for the prices to maybe be £15 and £20 instead of £20 and £25, but
you knnow how it is...150 minutes and 500 texts is plenty for me I reckon.

I've ordered a free PAYG Sim to use for signal testing, and will make a
decision based on the results of that.
