    Hi

I'm starting to look for a replaement mid-range mobile. An important feature
for me is that, as with my current model, when I receive a text, if I don't
hear the incoming alert, the alert will keep repeating until I do hear it (I
    have a hearing problem)

However, this doesn't seem to be a feature that is mentioned in advertising
blurb. Any ideas how I can get a short list together includes this feature.

    Thanks

This feature might madden those sitting near you!

My partner has a Nokia 2652 (I think this might have been discontinued
but you might find one somewhere) which can display light sequences
continuously after a text is received. This could bypass you hearing
    trouble without gaining enemies.

I seem to remember some early Samsungs had this feature, not sure if
    they still do.

Yup - my current phone is an early Samsung, and it does have that feature.
I'll try and do some digging on later models to see if they mention this
    feature.

Doesn't your phone have a vibrate facility..? I find that useful if I'm in
a noisy area or a busy street.

Yes it does Ivor, but if I'm not wearing a shirt with a breast pocket, my
phone is in my jacket, so that doesn't help.

    Thanks

I have a Samsung D600 which does this.
Maybe some of the later models such as the D900 etc may also have this
    facility. Anyone?

The Motorola KRZR K1 does this. You get the normal text alert sound when
a message first arrives, i.e. the sound that you set, thereafter it
beeps every 5 mins or so. Whether this can be changed to something
louder I don't know. (I can find out if you wish but it will be a few
days before I next see the particular friend that has the phone.)

Like you, I've never seen this feature advertised. You could try the
RNID to see if they can help, otherwise try ringing each manufacturer/
mobile operator and ask to be put through to someone who can help with
    "accessibility" issues.

    Regards,

I believe the current software (i.e., software that looks like that on
Razr series etc) on Motorola's has this feature both for missed texts
and calls. This would not include smart phone Motorola's, I am not sure
    about them.

Sony Ericssons that I have had do not have this feature, including the
    K750i, W850i and the k800.

I did find this quite useful on my Motorola, and you have now reminded
me of a short fall of my SE!!!!!!!

My previous phone, the A800 did this ad nauseum. The D900 has the option for
once, every minute and every 2 minutes.

Often you can get the information by downloading the user guide from the
manufacturers website even if the advertising blurb doesn't say.

It can be - the subsequent repeating sound can be any of the available
    ring tones.
