    Hi,

Be nice to me please )

In my vehicle I have a CARK-91, but I'd now like to use a Nokia 6111 or
6230i which are the easy ones, but have considered the Motorola V3.

What I'd like to know please, where can I get just the cradle for the above
phones to use with the under dash bits of the CARK-91?

I appreciate it may be easier to use a Bluetooth headset, but I don't wish
to look like a taxi/bus driver, besides they're more hassle, I want to click
    and go )

My next question. Where can I get a data lead to run from the above phones
to my non Bluetooth laptop (to use the phone as a modem)?

Thanks in advance of and help and useful suggestions )

You wont get a CARK-91 to talk to a Motorola phone. I also doubt you'll
get an adapter to put a 6111 into the CARK-91

The V3 comes with one. The 6111 requires a CA-53, available from
nokia.co.uk or from any mobile phone shop.

There isn't one. That is why you cannot find it.

After years of fannying about with my CARK-91 and various cradles, mics
falling off and the speaker box ending up in the passenger foot well, I
gave in and put one of these in each of my car and the missus' car.

    http://www.parrot.biz/uk/products/ck3000evolution

Got them for £52 each inc vat & postage from fonejuice, about 2 hours
    each to fit.

Would have preferred the 3200, but the price mounted up what with me
    needing 2 of them.

This way we can have the phones we want and they'll each work in each
    other's cars.

Bluetooth car kits, integrated with the stereo, and no daft thing in
    your ear.

I needed a hands-free kit for the ****e old car (Company car has a CK7-W
in it) - so bought one of these:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VR3-BLUETOOTH-...VOICE-RECOGNIT
    ION_W0QQitemZ110144326315QQihZ001QQcategoryZ42393QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    Bloody good, it is, too.

Takes about 10 seconds to fit, can be charged from your laptop or the
fag lighter. Battery lasts for ages.

I like the idea of that, but I've got to the stage where I'm tired of
with having to remember to charge stuff up.

And there's no way the missus would remember, so it would be my fault if
her car kit didn't work IYSWIM

Heh, I know what you mean.

I went for this option (rather than using the CARK-91 I have in the
garage) mainly because I can transfer it between cars - ie. mine,
Katie's, courtesy / hire cars and also use it in the company cage if I
need to use my personal phone.

What I want now is a decent on-bike solution that'll also work with an
    iPod.

    Hi,

I know this is open to interpretation, but I was wondering how loud the unit
is, as I use my CARK in a Peugeot Boxer van, which is by its nature nosier
than a car, but it copes quite well as I can have a reasonable conversation
    whilst moving.

The mike is currently up near the visor, and the speaker in on top of the
dash in the corner of the windscreen.

    Thanks

You need two things, 1 a cradle compatible with whichever phone you
have and a Nokia CA-55 Conversion cable. There are many for sale on
    eBay, for example:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Nokia-CA-5...QQcmdZViewItem

A word of caution though - I have done this and I find my Nokia 6280
doesn't charge when in the cradle although I can make and receive
calls hands free OK. I'm not sure if charging is a function that isn't
suppoerted by the conversion or if the CARK box I am using is faulty

I've been through this loop before!
If you buy the CA-55, and the correct cradle, you can use the 6230i
with the CARK-91. I also found a thrid party cradle which did the same
thing, but the quality wasn't great. Not all Nokia phones work with
the CA-55, however -I had to change to the CK-7W when I upgraded to a
    6233.
I do have my old CA-55 and 6230i cradle kicking around somewhere, and
I'd be happy to sell them on, if you're interested.

I've found the same thing, so I guess it's a "feature"

It works well enough in my 1991 Alfa 75, which is considerably noisier
    than a modern car.

It's not as good as a proper kit, though. All depends on how much you
use it, really - as an occasional use item, it's fine. Wouldn't want to
use it all day, every day, though.
