#1 | | Guest | Hi,
I have a PAYG phone on VM that gives me 300 'free' minutes a month for £10.
Trouble is, a lot of the calls I have to make are to businesses with 0845,
0800 etc numbers. These typess of numbers are not included in my free
minutes, so I finish up having to pay for them, even though I have loads of
free minutes left.
I have heard that there is somthing called 'dial-through'(??) which can help
me to makes calls such as these out of my free minutes, but I don't
understand how this works, or even if it is legal/allowed by standard T&C...
Can someone help me by explaining how I can do this (if it can be done...).
Thanks,

Chris.

Cheers! Yea, I do use that, but quite a few of the numbers I need to use
don't seem to be in there. Especially the 0800 ones. It particulary pi**es
me off when I have to pay for 'Freephone' calls... especially when I still
have about 100 'Free' minutes on my account for the rest of the month...

I use VM on the same tariff and 0800 calls are included in (or rather,
deducted from) your 300 minutes. Listed as "standard call" in your
[online] bill.

Anyone vouch for this number? No offence to 'Jono' but how do I know this
won't cost me more than dialing the 0845 number...?
How does it work anyway> Do I get a recorded message asking me to dial the
other number once I've dialled this one?

That's interesting. Must admit that when I got the message telling me that
the call would be charged at 'normal rate' I assumed that I was going to
get billed for it. I'll have to go and check my bill...

Yep, you're right! Just the 0845 type numbers to sort out then...

Glad I can help
I would also be interested in a solution to 0845 and 0870 numbers,
there must be a call-through "normal" mobile number to do this.
SayNoTo0870 is great, but not always able to provide alternative
geographic number ...

It asks you to dial the number you want & then connects you.

No offence taken.
If you study the number it starts 020 which is the London area STD. It
is clearly a non-standard number as there aren't any local London
numbers starting 0222xxxx.
AFAICT, I'm charged the same rate to call it as any other 020 number.
And yes, you get a recorded announcement asking you to dial your
destination number. You can only dial 0800/0808/0500 numbers using it,
though.
AFAIR, it is a number supplied by "Pre-Dial" <http://www.pre-dial.com/>
who have provided many dial-through numbers for a variety of different
circumstances.
Read the thread where I gleaned the information

This has been asked many times here. Not sure if there was ever an
answer, though. <shrug>

Fair enough... If it works, then who cares I guess.
One more question then:
Actually it's my original question really:
** Anyone know of a dial-through number I can use to get 0845 and similar
numbers out of my inclusive minutes on Virgin Mobile?? **
