I got my Orange abbreviated bill this morning and didn't understand
    two items .shown as
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Chargeable Umltd Ev & Wk OW : 19 Jun - 16 Jul 3.98
    Chargeable Umltd Ev & Wk OW : 17 Jul - 16 Aug 4.26
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I telephoned Orange CS and it was explained that this was a Data
Bundle Charge that was free for two months and I would have got a Text
Message just before the end of the free period and to cancel it from
then on I had to reply telling them to cancel .I am certain that I did
not get such a text so told them that and they are removing the charge
..Just as well to examine bills closely .

    .
They can't even ***** the abbreviation for unlimited correctly as it
    shows as UMLTD

Yes but as I've said before...

Do you remember the old orange adverts with Orangutans in them?

They still work in Oranges billing department.

Your retailer should also informed you of this, and you would have been
    sent the text.

I may well have been told by the retailer but I'm not likley to
remember and as with the two months free insurance it's just a ploy so
you hopefully DON'T remember and cancel it .

As I said I am certain I DID NOT get it ( the test) and if I had got
it I would have replied as I have no use nor need for what was
    offerred .

Free insurance for 2 months suggests that you purchased it from
somewhere that regularly employ such tactics but do not inform the
customer. You could have used the calendar function in your new phone to
    set a reminder for yourself.

Orange pro-actively offer an easy opt-out system of replying by text,
you don't even have to call.

Has been a common practice with Orange for some time. Give you a free trial,
normally without informing you let alone asking you, then when it runs out
continue to charge you for something you didn't even want in the first
    place.

As you know Jon, what should and does happen with Orange and there dealers
    are two completely different things.

If it's that common then why don't Orange do something about their 'dodgy'
    dealers?

When I got a free trial added to my contract without my knowledge I phone
Orange CS to get it removed. Was told in no uncertain terms that it could
not be removed until the free period had ended and that I'd have to put a
reminder in my calendar and cancel when it ran out.

After several threats of further action if it was not removed immediately it
    surprisingly became possible.

Sorry to hear that, it's bollocks of course.
