Transfers

Daughter is trying to move her phone from an Orange account that I set up
for her when she was 17 - to an Orange account she has set up in her own
name (she is now 27) at her own address. She has also bought a new handset.

We are finding it impossible to transfer the number to her new handset and
account and it will be easier to move to a different network once we have
the PAC code. The PAC code cannot even be used within Orange.

What is going on - any ideas? Is it some sort of block on people buying
phones from non-Orange shops

The new handset therefore has a new number.

What you should have done was transferred the phone into her name, then
she should have upgraded to keep the same number.

Orange do not provide SIM only for contract phones.

You may be able to complete the necessary transfer process to change
the responsibility of the old account to your daughter. Clearly, then,
she will have two accounts in her name. At that point it may be
possible for her to do a migration from one account to another and
discard the new number.

If she wants to use her new handset with an Orange SIM, it will either
need to be SIM-free, unlocked, not-locked to another network or locked
to Orange.

She has been sent a PAYG SIM Card as one person at Orange told her she may
be able to move to PAYG and then change to a Contract. Since then othe r
agents have told her differently - but we have the SIM.

Then you haven't got "two accounts with Orange"

Simply transfer the account from your name to hers. Then she needs to
ask for her resulting account to be converted to PAYG....if she wants
PAYG as opposed to contract.

Moving prom PAYM to PAYG at the end of a contract is easy and free.
Moving from PAYG to COntract and keeping the same number is also easy
and free but it must be done at the point that you purchase your new
phone - it cannot be done retrospectively.
