VBE is Voda's version of BlackBerry's BIS (Internet Service). In order
to sych email, calendar & contacts you would have to install their
version of the BES....I think they call it VMES.

I take it you don't have a BES & went this route to get full synch?

no we have a BES as well but I wanted a windows mobile device and assumed
the costs would be comparable if the data amount was the same.

Go back to the Blackberry!

MS Direct Push has NO concept of compression, or security, for that
matter.

Although Exchange Direct Push encrypts the body of the mail, if you
choose, apparently, attachments, calendar, tasks etc are sent in the
clear.

Why don't you install the BlackBerry Connect client for your smartphone
and set it up on your BES?

<http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=225> - obviously, you will need
the BlackBerry Enterprise Server tariff "bolt on"
