Strange SMS from 5850

All,

Over the past few days I've started getting SMSs from 5850 with the
following message:

"Your mailbox is at 80% full, please delete some emails".

I've no idea where it might be coming from as I've not set such a
facility up on any of the accounts I use. Anyone know where it might
be coming from?

I think that's the number Orange uses for the email alert service. Are
you on Orange? DO you have an orange.net email? If so, then this is the
cause of the texts.

It must be your orange.net e-mail a/c, ie <your number>@orange.net

Easiest way would be to use the POP server to read/delete them.

Set up an account in Eudora/Pocomail or whatever you normally use:

User: 07??????????? [Your mobile number]
Password: [I assume you know it!]
POP3: pop.orange.net

Any problems (eg forgotten or unknown e-mail password), you will have
to battle your way through Orange's website. (Reset the password if
needs be.)

If you don't think you have an e-mail set up, try logging in to your
e-mail anyway, try:
https://services.orange.co.uk/sam/te...eb/sign_in.htm

Thanks for the tip, Jon. I've remembered a very dormant Orange.net
email account which is now home to about 7000 penis enlargement
offers. As it will probably take me about a month to delete them via
the web interface can anyone tell me if the pop.orange.net POP3 server
still works?

IMAP access to orange.net mail works too; server is imap.orange.net.
