#1 | | Guest | I've just done my yearly Contract renewal call to O2.
The phone is rarely used (I have a business phone, this is my private
phone), so for the last 3 or 4 years I've got to the year end, and asked
them to cancel the Contract, and change it to PAYG.
Each previous time, I have been offered a far better deal to stay on
contract, so have kept it.
Today I was offered nothing, - just a "OK, when would you like the
Contract to end?"
Am I just a bad customer who doesnt use the phone enough, and they want
rid of me?
Ta
Alan.

my contract ended recently I called to discuss a £100 credit, which we
received last year, and they said that deal was not on offer this year but
they could put me on a 30 day contract, 1300 free minutes and 250 texts AND
reduce my monthly charge from £30 to £15............................and all
I asked for was that £100 credit.
very good deal I thought.

Not necessarily.
Take two customers on T-Mobile who both have £60 worth of calling credit per
month.
One customer uses up all of their calling credit but doesn't spend any more,
the other uses only £5 of their credit. I am sure T-Mobile would prefer the
latter customer as its costing them less.

Well, yes, I got around 8 hours free calls/month, as well as 7 months
rent free last year, then 5 months at £15/mth, and was expecting a
similar offer this year, but it appears they dont want to keep me.
I cant say I'm too bothered, as I hardly use the phone now anyway, but I
was under the mistaken impression that they want to keep as many
contract customers as they can - they didnt even try to make me stay
with them.

Probably just for the first six months of an 18 month contract.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS get the written deal sent to you by O2 before
agreeing to anything. They are appallingly faithless about honouring
contracts.
Also make sure that itemised bills are included, otherwise you will have to
pay to find out how they have inflated it.
In their most recent overcharge O2 started sending me promo texts for the
iPhone. I sent "stop". O2 charged for a text to their own number and
carried on sending regardless.
