Has anyone had both?
Which one was better - better being more reliable, better battery life, ease
of use?
I'm now on my 3rd N95 and 3 have offered to swap it for a K850i. Should I go
for it?
cheers

No GPS?
Also AFAIK you can't load your own apps onto SE phones.

GPS is of little use to me on a phone, I have a tom-tom in the car anyway.
The only possible thing I *might* want to use it for
would be Skype or similar..

You can, although you are limited to java apps. The K850 isn't a
"smartphone" as such.
I get confused with the comparison between the two to be honest, apart from
both having 5Mpx cameras they are completely different!

Two suffered from the same fault - coming up with "SIM Card registration
failed" when sitting in my pocket or just lying on the table. Sometimes they
wouldn't recognise the SIM at all when starting up.The SIM works fine in my
other phone.
The N95 crashed at least twice a day for no apparent reason - ie I was just
making a call, not using any of the apps, if I was using the apps, the
crashes were more frequent. The battery life is awful even without GPRS/Wifi
and Bluetooth turned on. It's on the latest firmware 3 have released for the
N95.
The N95 would be a *superb* phone, if the firmware was ok. I see V20 is just
out and appears to have sorted some of the issues out. However, how long
before 3 release it? I wanted the phone for skype/messenger as well, neither
of which I can get working on the generic firmware due to 3's restrictions.

Had this problem with my 6120 Classic, don't think its a phone problem, more
of a sim card being to thin. Well it was in my case. Sent first phone back
and kept original sim, when I got new phone in same problem.

I had similar problems when I got my original 3 N73, but after rebranding
the phone the problems all but disappeared.

I've been reading mixed comments on the new v20 firmware. The trial N95 I
used for a few weeks had v12 firmware and I could only ever have 1 app
running or I'd get low memory messages, but on the trial unbranded N95 I had
I was able to use Skype and 3MSN and the new Windows Live Messenger with my
3 SIM (I have X-Series Silver add-on). I've got all the apps if you want to
try on your N95, just email me from my blog and I'll send you the links (or
look thru my posts on my blog I'm sure I've got the links for Skype on
there).
One thing I do miss going back to the N73 from having a N95 for a few weeks
in Wifi, came in very handy for downloading podcasts at night for the next
day at work.

Hi Gerry
Thanks for all the info. I've debranded it with V20 now and installed Skype
OK. I can't get
Live messenger or Yahoo GO! to install - I get "certificate error" with both
apps. This is the same problem
I got before when I tried to use the apps on an unbranded phone. I am
downloading both from 3's site.
Cheers

You won't be able to download the one from the 3 Internet pages and get
working. I've got a modified jad file which allows you to install the
correct 3 jar file for MSN. Again email me and when I get home tonight I'll
send you a link.
The new YahooGO v2.0 I've never got working on any phone I've got branded or
otherwise. Stay away from yahoo apps.

app on the
phone as you suggest.
Oddly I've never had a problem with YahooGo2.0, on this phone when it was
branded, or on various Windows
mobile devices I've installed it on. Is there another way to get my yahoo
mail without installing it?
Thanks again!

You should be able to use the phones browser. Try http://uk.m.yahoo.com

I've had 3 phones now and I can't install yahooGO from there website. I've
emailed them and just get a autobot reply of some handsets are not
compatible.
I use Opera Mobile on my phone and just check my Yahoo Mail via
mail.yahoo.com, just make sure you have it set for the original mail on the
PC and not the new beta version.
Alternatively just use the built-in email client or LCG ProfiMail or any
email app.

Nice one Gerry. I'll keep the N95 now I think. It's running V20, all my apps
are working and I've not had a single crash yet. The battery life seems to
be extended too - similar amount of usage at night usually kills it, and
it's still got all bars showing.

Try and get the N95-3. It's better than the N95-1 in terms of battery
life and reliability. v20 of the firmware is now out for the N95-1 which
increases battery length by 20-30% and includes Demand Paging support
(which is useful if you were having RAM problems before).

Oddly, my N95 is now recognised as an N95 8GB by my PC now I've updated it.
Is this just the firware fooling it, or have
3 been getting N95 8GBs and poisoning them with their ****ty software?
Thanks all!
