Nokia 6230i memory

I'm tryingto install some applications on my nokia 6230i (orange) and
the memory available seems to be tiny, even though the phone has 32
meg I think built in.

Is there any way to increase the amount of memory for apps?

I can't be certain about what I am about to state here as it was some
time ago...
I backed up my phone and then got rid of all the games etc. that I
didn't need. I never, ever play games so they are all gone.
I have just counted up the number of applications I have - 16 !
btw getjar.com is good for applications.
