Second Line

I have an Orange contract (Talk 200) plus Everyday 50 on the phone's
"second line". Someone approached me today to ask me if I'd sell them
the contract as they want a second line for some other purpose but
Orange no longer supply them. Can I ask is is possible to "sell" my
contract and, if so, can I retain my number? Is there any other
provider out there offering a second line?

Orange do still offer Line 2. Someone was after your everydat 50
contract. Since Line 2 is an addiditonal service which can be started
and stopped at any point I doubt you'd be able to transfer it.

There used to be a big market for ED50 contracts because, as you
correctly state, Orange do not offer that tariff anymore. If it was your
Line 1 tariff then you could, but I doubt you'd be able to transfer it
to someone else being a line 2.

I still get a few poeple coming into my shop to upgrade, who steadfastly
refuse to change tariff away from ED50, even though they are knocking in
bills of £45-50 per month!

Just wondering why you are replying *below* other peoples signatures? It
makes it look like you haven't said anything, and also makes it
difficult to quote your message in replies ...

I think the emphasis was "below *the signature*". Most newsreaders will
delete the bit below the sig separator when they follow up. That is, the
line with "-- " as its only contents.

Line 2 was discontinued towards the end of September, IIRC, and is no longer
available to request. If you have it, you keep it, but if you remove it, you
can't have it back. Guru will give you more info on it Jon.

Ah. Another "simplification" I assume.

On a different tack, why has no other provider ever offered Line 2..? When
I had it I found it incredibly useful.

Perhaps cos they make a lot of offpeak 0870 and 0845 calls which
would push their monthly bills to even more on any other recent tariff.
