How much data ia acceptable on O2 "unlimited" bolt on

Just trying to get an idea of what people may be using in MB per month
without any issues.

I want to run google maps with my XDA and so for example say 10MB a day be
counted as "excessive"

The Ts and Cs have a 200MB per month 'fair usage' limit. See

Presumably usage volume isn't what the 'unlimited' in the publicity refers
to.

How do you get an idea of what google maps uses/needs? I'm not doubting
your estimate, but if you run with something like Vodafones "£1 for
15Mb" in a day, any usage above that is seriously expensive so you
really do need to know in advance how much these applications are going
to use. I have held off using it until I find out.

Is there a handy guide anywhere?

Reset your data counteron your phone to zero. Clear your browser
cache on your phone/PDA/etc. Now fanny around for 5 minutes with
Google Maps as you would normally expect to. Disconnect. Look at
data use on phone. Rinse, repeat if required.

theres no usage limits on the o2 data bolt on anymore, it use to be 200mb
but its now unlimited as long as u use it for whats its designed for,
internet on ya phone! ive used 400mb this month and since feb 1st ive had no
problems!!!

Get a data counter installed and use it for a day.

not for non-business customers). These are the current terms for standard
pay monthly customers wrt data usage:

phone. All usage must be for your private, personal and non-commercial
purposes. You may not use your SIM Card:

- to allow the continuous streaming of any audio / video content, enable
Voice over Internet (Voip), P2P or file sharing; or
- in such a way that adversely impacts the service to other O2 customers.

If O2 reasonably suspectsyou are not acting in accordance with this policy
O2 reserves the right to impose further charges, impose network protection
controls which may reduce your speed of transmission, remove the Web Bolt On
from your account or disconnect your tariff at any time, having attempted to
contact you first.

Basically the OP has no reason to worry about google maps usage with O2 web
bolt on - that isn't the sort of usage they will be concerned about.

Thanks for the replies everyone. My figure of 10MB a day was just a random
figure I chose.

My main concern now is the poor batt life on the XDA stellar I have (and for
this reason need to decide if it should go back to O2.
Connectivity and stuff is brill along with GPS too (and google maps)
Just the damn batt life.
