Users on PUFL - Phone Upgrade ?

If you don't know what PUFL is then it probably isn't worth you
reading further.

A few people on other forums have reported success in upgrading their
PUFL phones in-store, many for free phones. Allegedly there is no
change to the 'contract'.

I haven't been brave enough to try it with mine yet.

Yes, I googled, boggled and found that too - was wondering what on earth
PUFL (=pay upfront for life) stood for.

The OP might have already been there, and come here? :-)

It depends on the store.

I've upgraded twice in 11 months. I got a K800i last time and a very
thin Samsung this year. My daughter has just got a Samsung with a 3M
camera.

In other o2 stores, I've been told that no upgrade is allowed on PUFFL.

Hence the comment at the start of the OP.

Indeed. As stated in the OP.

So the outcome of this thread is that some people have managed it but
other 'vets' (ST) are cautious. Much as I thought.

I don't think I'll risk my two lifetime 'no rental' contracts for
short term gain.

Before anyone asks why these are better than Tesco or Virgin, it is
because they have included minutes per month, for no charge, for life.

Yea, but human nature being what it is, if you start a post with a comment
like that, the first thing someone who doesn't know what PUFL stands for is
going to do, is to go and look it up... (well, I did anyway)

:-)

Same experience here! It depends on the store. I have a PUFL (50
anytime minutes), one O2 shop said upgrades weren't allowed when I
asked about the XDA Mini S when it came out. Another said I could
upgrade but would have to pay £80 for the XDA. I wanted the device so
I paid them for it. I haven't bothered to try since, as I don't need
an upgrade.
