I smell SPAM ! In the UK the networks store text messages for 3 years and
have done so for years. They also store all call details, locations and
SIM/
IMEI details. All can be cross-referenced. The reason they will not
cut off stolen phones or notify the police as to who is using them is down
to a loss in revenue.
If the police want details they go to the network - and get them, they also
get the person's phone. No amount of encryption will protect a person.
