does anybody know how i can get round the activation screen, as i have
a o2 contract sim and o2 are refusing to upgrade my sim to a iphone
tarriff for the final three months of my contract - even though i am
going to upgrade with them in sep!!!! l

so is there a way around this or will i need to "jail break" the
    iPhone?

What version of the iPhone software are you currently on? If it's a
fresh-out-of-the-box phone running the original v1 software then go to
www.ziphone.org, download it and *just* select the "Activate" option.

Don't bother jailbreaking it or unlocking it for all networks if
you're going to use it on o2 as it'll only cause more problems.

I said only use ZiPhone if it's using v1 of the software, silly boy.

What exactly does it say, and have you fed the iPhone 3G to iTunes
    yet?

If you're using an o2 iPhone 3G with an o2 SIM then why would the
    phone need to be unlocked?

i still cant believe o2 arsey o2 got with me, when i requested to be
put on the iPhone tarriff - even though it would mean losing my
generous loyalty discount! they did ofer to put me on it, but it would
    mean starting a new contract!!

screw that! - i'm just gonna wait till oct - go through retentions and
get another loyalty discount when a renew my contract - and get a good
one as o2 completly screwed up this year!!!1
