Mobile linked to laptop to receive Internet

I have a Motorola Razor2 with internet. I don't know much about phones
but I am pretty good with computers. The phone manual tells me next to
nothing. What I want to do is when I go somewhere where I have no
wireless internet is to be able to use my phone to get online and plug
it in to my laptop using a USB cable and be able to use the internet
as I would at home. Is it possible?

Yes. The software you got with the phone will allow you to do this.

If you get free internet access with the phone, you'll probably find
this does not allow you to use the phone as an access portal for
another device.

Not sure how they know, but be very wary of large bills as a result !

I meant as part of the contract, they normally disallow use of a
mobiles' internet connectivity for any other device. I didn't say it
can't be done, but the networks usually say the internet access is for
the phone only.

It is the case with T-mobile Web 'n' Walk; you need Web 'n' Walk Plus
or Web 'n' Walk Max to use with a laptop etc.

No, check the networks T&C's.

For Web browsing _only_ on the phone (not connected devices)

Also, I've got a Blackberry on a free 'unlimited' internet tarriff. The
free connection is only via a BIS proxy server - If you want it direct
to a mobile APN, the connection with O2 is chargable at a horrendous
rate, and also applies when tethering a laptop via a bluetooth data
connection.

Probably better off getting a wireless modem, 3 have loads of different PAYG
and contract obtions and if you live in a 'turbo' area you get decent speed.
