All tmobile US sims are GPRS activated. However, they do nto have "real"
data. i,.e you cannot access any website besides the free tzones (CNN,
ABC, ESPN, and a couple of more sites). You do not get charged. You
just need to get the GPRS settings to your phone. ou can google for it.
Tmobile US sims are a dime a dozen on ebay. Very cheap and loaded with
talk time. You should be able to change the area code to one of you
choice freely with a quick call to tmobile CSR. This is probably not
neccesary since they are all nationwide minutes (Cost the same to call
to and from any where in USA, Puerto rico, and US Virgin Island).

Now, AT&T payg sims do have the option to have unimited data for $19.99
a month. So, if you really need data access, thei si the sim to get.
Again, chek ebay and find a seller that will mail it to the UK.

T-Mobile USA does, you could always go to a store, buy a brand
new SIM and have it put on the Sidekick tariff when you get to
    Florida.
