I've placed an order with Vodafone, but the option to enter your PAC
    isn't at all obvious.

I missed it and now I'm worried I've missed my chance an I'm going to
lose a number I've had for over 10 years and is registed elsewhere.

I've tried calling Voda but apparently they run some kind of antiquated
    day time only service.

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I can get them to accept a pac
after an order has been placed. According to the Vodafone help forums
they can only accept a PAC at order time, not after like the other
    networks do.

If you've ordered online I understand you can cancel the order under the DSR
    regs. and start again.

    What's 'DSR Regs?' :-)

I suspect a service such as mobile phone may fall into one of the
exemption categories...however have a look at the T&Cs as there may be a
cooling off peiod or some other getout.

Vodafone have a 14 day cooling off period on orders made over the phone or
    online.

    You missed the smiley.

DSR regs is presumably 'Distance Selling Regulations regulations"...!

Return the handset you have purchased unused as per distance selling
    regs.

Then go to a shop with your PAC and make your purchase.

    Thanks everyone.
I think I have convinced voda to cancel the existing order and as it is
back order not send it out.

Then I re-ordered again remembering my PAC. The reason I wanted to do
this online is because I'm up for a £90 cash back affiliate deal through
topcashback if I do it online.

Spoke the v-shop reps and they said if they both turn up, stick the sim
in, see which one has my ported number in, and return the other one
under the 14day cooling off/try period which is fair.

Surely they're not sending activated (live) SIMS out...?

They don't send out temporary numbers, but they do pre-program the
sim/account. The sim will show the number but I believe it won't work as
a phone until you activate it.
