I heard a rumour that the deal had collapsed.

It was abandoned I believe. There was some agreement with site sharing
    but that was it.

Well around here, *many* Orange users would benifit from shared 2G, but I
personly hope it doesn't happen, and France Telecom have nothing to do with
    sharing Vodafone's network!

Just let Orange do their own thing, in their own (very bad, very French)
way, and let them slip even further down all the ratings / customer
satisfaction surveys that they were once top of a few years ago!

France Telecom won't, Orange UK will.

I think you underestimate the impact of the new CEO, the first "British" one
in quite a few years. Give Tom Alexander time - if anyone can return Orange
UK to past success, he can.

    Regards

    Jon.

The original plan was for 3G RAN to be shared, with the possibility of this
extending to 2G RAN/BSS as things worked through. In the event, network
sharing didn't work out but Voda & Orange do now have formal site sharing.

These things take time to "exhibit" themselves on the ground where new sites
are concerned, and I assume at some stage there'll be site consolidation
too - dependent on lease renewals, planning approvals etc.

    Regards

    Jon.
