I'm looking at the Samsung F700 or similar, what I need is a simple(ish)
PDA-style calendar display, with the week showing and text entries on each
day for the appointments, rather than the coloured blocks etc. I want to
have easy access to this view, rather than have to click through menus to
see what I'm doing for the rest of the week, and I need it to remember this
    view. Something like this format:

    http://gpe.linuxtogo.org/images/calendar-week.png Nice and simple, but
    at-a-glance.

Does the F700 etc offer this sort of view, or can I put software onto it
that I like? I've read that the f700 uses a proprietry OS, so does it accept
    3rd party software?

Basically I'm looking for a phone with decent software, good camera, screen
as large as possible, wifi would be good but not a deal-breaker. I don't
want the I-phone or a N-95.... It's so hard to find a phone with all those
features, plus good reviews, plus an easy way to load software onto it.

I'm grateful for all suggestions and help!

ps what about the LG Viewty? Proprietry OS again, what options do I have for
    putting applications onto it?

I'd suggest suggest looking at the Nokia E71. I just got one, and am very
pleased with it. Well built, good features, good battery life (far far
    longer than the N95).
The calendar does what you're asking, and syncs with Microsoft Outlook.

Now that's what I'm looking for.... more of a PDA with an inbuilt phone than
a snazzy phone with a sorry excuse for an organiser. I carry both phone and
PDA, and life would be much easier with just one of them. Thanks a lot for
    the advice!
