My wife has the above phone, it's currently on VirginMobile. Last night she
tried an ASDA SIM in it, but found it was locked, so put the Virgin SIM back
in...
Only to find that all her SMS messages had vanished (both 'sent' and
'received', ie Inbox and SentItems)!!
Anyone know why this happened, and if there is any way of retrieving the
texts??

Because you put another SIM in. Last calls etc. will go as well.

Ask the sender to retransmit.

Because you didn't back them up first?
Asda uses Vodafone so even if it wasn't GID1 locked it'll be SP locked
Try say a Virgin Sim in it, if that doesn't work either then it's GID1
locked too

It had a Virgin Mobile SIM in it initially, then she tried the ASDA one,
found the phone was locked, so put the (same) VM one back again.
I did exactly the same thing with my phone (SE W610i) and when I took the
ASDA one out and put MY Virgin Mobile SIM, all my texts were still there.
(the only difference -apart from the make of phone- is that mine is
unlocked, so the ASDA SIM worked in mine). Though I guess the make of phone
is the deciding factor here(?)
(I didn't back the messages up because they are not that important, I was
just curious as to why her phone deleted them and mine didn't. I asked about
retrieving them because one or two were slightly useful, but nothing that
can't be re-sent or looked up another way...)
Thanks for the info.
