I would suggest that, in this instance 'headsets' refers to the cable
attached type, be that on a mobile or fixed phone, and not to a
Bluetooth headset.
Either way UK legislation says that a product must be 'fit for purchase'
and work reliably for a period that would be expected of such a product.
It would not, for instance, be unreasonable to expect a TV or washing
machine to work for at least five years, even if the manufacturer only
guarantees it for a year.
Also remember that your contract is with the retailer and not the
manufacturer and it is up to the retailer to resolve your complaint.
