With the problems of the Omnia not working with popular TomTom software
I've been doing a bit of research.

TomTom6 will install, will confirm the gps is correct but even using
agps or egps won't even see the downloaded satellite positions.

TomTom7 (ripped copy being distributed online) will see the downloaded
positions, but unless it is within 10 minutes of a restart/soft reset
won't lock on, even after an our of seeing blue satellite signals from 4
birds TomTom refuses to accept it has a signal. Sometimes it works
randomly.

Destinator 7 on borrowed memory card.
Loaded quickly, worked fine, locked on within 10 minutes first time, 5
seconds after startup everytime after. Bit sluggish and slow, too
bloated to use on the phone properly.

iGo 8 on borrowed install card, loads quickly, locks onto 5 or more
birds outdoors and gets 2 birds partial/intermittent lock inside the
house. The copy of iGo I borrowed only supported 2 resolutions, neither
of which was 400x240 so it only uses 2/3rd of the screen but it will do
portrait mode so it will still fit in the phone holder like my old htc
trinity. Screen is still readable. Can't seem to make it do a2dp like
tomtom6 on the trinity. Can be a bit sluggish when used alongside a
music player.

Reports say that CoPilot 7 and Garmin XT works like Destinator and iGo.
If you use a port splitter app like GPSgate, people have had TomTom6
seeing the pre-downloaded satellite locations, and had TomTom7 locking
on really quickly.

All the apps I tested were with the same settings.
Phone:
Hardware port 9
gps port 3
baud:4800
windows to manage access: yes

Software:
Other NMEA
port 3
baud:4800

Igo, Destinator and apparently Garmin Xt, CoPilot all work without
additional help.
TomTom doesn't work.

Since I'm now working nav less at the minute time to purchase a copy of
iGo.

Hope this is a help for those considering an Omnia. It is a nice phone,
has a few bugs to sort, but works well, I need to get a screen protector
so I can finally rip off the rapidbly decaying delivery plastic, and a
decent 16gb micro sdhc card so I can stuff it full of tunes for play
time and a car charger as the 1000mah battery certainly has very little
standby time. All the reviews stated a 1400mah battery, so maybe Voda
cut corners to offer it cheap to new punters.

Room inside the case for a standard or even short stylus would have been
nice, instead of the telescopic lipstick one that you are supposed to
dangle off the loop like those silly phone charms.
