An item on BBC Radio 4's You and Yours today reminded me just how dodgy
    the Reverse SMS system is.

There was mention in this group a couple of years back of T-mobile
offering an opt-out for those who didn't want to receive Reverse-charged
    SMS messages.

Does that still apply today? For those in areas with poor T-mobile
coverage does any other UK mobile operator currently offer an opt-out
for Reverse SMS for either pay-monthly or PAYG users?

I think Vodafone might have been toying with the idea?

Yes, Vodafone have recently followed T-Mobile's lead and now offer reversed
    premium rate SMS opt out.

There is an undocumented "charge to account bar" on My T-mobile which is
    *not* the same thing.

The T-mobile opt out apparently does still exist but you have to ask
    customer services to enable it.

The don't exactly go out of their way to advertise it. I have seen bits
of their website that flatly deny it is even possible.

It still exists. Just last week we discovered one of the kids had
joined a £10/mo game cheats site, billed through the phone bill, using
SMS last month. T-Mobile have agreed both to refund the charge and to
    prevent similar in future.

Credit where credit is due, this was great service with minimum fuss.
    Thanks T-Mobile.

    Tesco have an opt-out.
