    Yep, exactly ;0)

It was vodafone that told me to look into this,i believe they may have
some knowledge in the phone number world.
To all those less than helpful respondants - I dont need sarcasm- just
a kind pointer in the right direction. To quote my mother "If you cant

To everyone else, many thanks for your help :0)

Mine was originally 0973 Orange first prefix
Then they added 07 which made it worth less

My original mobile was an 04 number when all mobiles were supposed to be
moving to that range, then I too bought an orange phone and was on 0973,
then oftel/ofcom changed their mind and standardized on the 07 prefix.

Vodafone, this was post "phoneday" so all geographic codes had switched
to 01, the plan was for all mobiles to use 04, but soon after they
    changed their mind to 07.

Yup, just a few months later for me. We were travelling the country on
holiday, and my parents in law were house sitting - father in law was
not a well man. We had trouble finding phone boxes, and we saw a TV
advert for Orange in the hotel room.

My wife's contract was up this week, and she got her PAC (that's the
last one). I thought *I* was abrupt talking to Orange CS....but...!

I've still got an 0966 (now 07966) number. It's not on Orange any more
    though.

Neither is mine. And, by the end of the week, my wife's 07976 number
    won't be either!

What about numbers you see somewhere, but don't get a chance, or don't
bother to write down/enter in your phone...

Hmm, what was the number of that taxi company I saw last time I was up
    here...
    ahh yes, 077 888888888
    or was it 07853 5246987
Which one are you more likely to remember...?
