How many mobile phone companies are offering 3G service in Jersey?
What do their offers look like?

Motorola Timeports from the 90's would do this, BUT the phone appeared as a
modem (by infra-red connection) and was slow (~14kpbs) dial up. You can
probably swap one for a Mars bar.
I think what you mean is what is the cheapest 3G phone you can use for a PC
internet connection via HSPDA?

We've gone for the MWG Zinc II Windows Mobile 6.1 PDA/Phone with GPS and
2mpixel camera £ 170 ex VAT from expansys, I have a HTC Tytn II and its very
easy to share the data connection with PC via either bluetooth or USB Cable.

I'm in Jersey, Channel Islands... the MWG Zinc II Windows Mobile 6.1
pda/phone with 3G GPS and 2 mpixel camera I have ordered for £ 170 ex VAT
from expansys is a bit off a bargain, MWG was formed in November 2007 with
investment from expansys and have released a few Windows Mobile 6.0 mobile
phones so far... the Zinc II is very similar to my Tytn II which I paid £
410 ex VAT for in Sept 2007 except it has only 2mpixel camera (as opposed to
3mpixel) and 64mb RAM instead of 128mb but it has a faster CPU.
The price at launch was £ 369.99 but has been reduced to £ 195.43 inc VAT in
September 2008 which is a steal for what it is, can anyone find me another
mobile that has 3G, at least 2mpixel camera and GPS for £ 195.43, and if you
can does it run the superb Windows Mobile 6.1???? I don't think so, you can
get it free on certain contracts as well the price I mention is for an
unlocked handset only.

Which is why I asked which service providers you have. Chances were that
them who are also represented here on the mainland (Voda) may have had
similar offers of kit available, even payg.
VeryOT. What's the weather like? My toes are freezing here....

We have Voda and Cable & Wireless but if we bought a Voda contract in the UK
it would be classed as roaming in Jersey, Channel Islands... I could only
buy this phone on a Voda CI contract but they don't do it as far as I know,
the reason for this is that MWG is a pretty new company that is not well
known and as expansys invested in the company they are pretty much the only
place you can get it either unlocked or on a contract hence the excellent
value for money price. A second hand Tytn II on eBay would cost in the
region of £ 185 - £ 200 and a second hand HTC Touch (without GPS/Querty
keyboard etc) would be about £ 100 - £ 115, for a brand new phone its an
excellent deal, expansys even have some B grade used ones for £ 130 ex VAT.
