Some time ago I moved to online billing with Vodafone, and stopped my
paper statements. However it wasn't long before I asked for paper
statements. The reason being, their online billing was a joke. It was
down for "servicing" more than it was up, and even when up half the
time bits didn't work - timeout errors and so on.
This last week I've had a letter from Vodafone, telling me that all
its contract phone users are being moved to online billing (on their
"new and improved" platform) and if I want to keep paper statements, I
had to phone and tell them - and pay an extra £1.50 per month for the
privilage.
So I tried it out. I logged in, and guess what? Sections of the site
unavailable due to maintenance, other sections broken with timeout
errors. I.e. still no major change and still unusable.
How is this justified? Surely we all have the right to know what we're
going to be charged and what for, before they take the money?

Per a reply i've just sent about bank statements in uk.legal.moderated
i'd be tempted to leave it for several months then pay the £10 fee as
a subject access request under the data protection act - specifically
mentioning that you want all copies of itemised bills for the last 6
years (which they need to keep for VAT purposes)
If they want to cause you problems, save yourself some money in the
short term, then cause them lots of problems :-)

I love your way of thinking!
