Does anyone know whether mobile providers can program their SIM cards
to only recognize certain phones (in terms of different models of
phones), and to only recognize their own phones?

This is in relation to my thread regarding O2 and Vodafone SIMs not
being recognized by my Canadian Blackberry Storm.

So how programmable are SIM cards? Can different providers produce
SIMs that only works in certain phones and their own phones etc?
