    Hi...im new to these forums....

I'll be getting a new phone when my contract ends next month....

which one is better...i have read many many reviews for both the 950 and 8100 but i still cant make my decision...

i dont like the stub antenna on the 8100...but i read there were reception problems when you put your finger over the internal antena on the 950....all the other extra features are pretty much the same...

    thanks

The 8100 has an great GUI but srevice is not as good as it should be. I work for verizonwireless and few of the sales rep have them in the store and they all have the same complaint. The sam 950 is still pretty new and i haven't got any feed back yet. I use the LG VX9800 again great GUI and reception is good but then again i was coming from the blackberry 7250 which reception is so/so.

Finger over antenna = reception problems

    Eweezy,

My wife has the LGVX8100, I have the Samsung a950. I've only had the a950 for a day and have noticed that (as you're read before) I have reception problems when I have my finger of the internal antenna. My other quarrels with the a950 is that it doesn't have a EZTip calculator. Also, the Verizon wireless website says that it has 64 ringtones but truth is that there are only 6. The a950 also doesn't have the PC connection capability that the VX8100 has. I'm still trying to figure out a way to sync my phone's address book with the address book on my PC. I have two weeks to test the phone, if I continue having reception problems and am unable to figure out a way to sync address books I'm getting rid of the a950 for a VX8100. Hope this helps in making your decision.

for the price, i would do the 950. they have the same features with little differences. i sold nothing but 950s the last couple days, and i have not had any come back or anyone complain. normally when people don't like a phone they return it the next day- so none of that. the menu layout for both phones are pretty standardized. some people i know chose not to get the 950 because of the red.

even if you have the ne2 the 8100 is still $49.99 after MIR, the 950 is free after MIR. Up to you. Don't forget you have a 15 day trial period.

I'd probably go with the a950 because I like how it looks like from the front compared to the vx8100. I haven't had any problems with the reception since the 2 weeks I got it. One major con for the vx8100 is the external antenna. The antenna looks pretty ugly. And yes, the red does suck on the a950 but it kind of gives it a good look. About the PC Sync, sadly the a950 doesn't have it but mostly all Verizon phones don't have that. And Seth, I been hearing that the E815 has some problems with it but I don't know what it is. My dad has the v710 and it kind of sucks. But I if I were you, I would test both phones out and see which one I really like.
