Verizon to Cingular/Unicel towers?

Hey all! new to the forum. Just had a question, is there anyway to tinker with the phone to be able to pick up towers other than verizon's? i live way in upstate NY where goos service is hard to come by, but there are cingular towers that provide excellent service. I would like to know if there is any way to acvcess their towers?

Verizon and Cingular use entirely different technologies.... So the answer is no, not really!

(Verizon is CDMA, Cingular is GSM).... I'm not so desperate for service to do so, but I know a few people who have both a Verizon and a Cingular phone to get service in our area....

Hmm do you know of what phones support both technologies? I roam off canadian towers like 8 miles from the border

What I THINK he was saying was some people have 2 different carriers (1 Verizon & 1 Cingular) on 2 seperate phones not 2 carriers on one phone.
