A few Newbie Questions...??

First off, let me start by saying you guys have an AWESOME site.. lots of information and everyone seem to be nice.. I look forward to the experience.

I have a few questions.. I'm a techie guy but not too much in the line of cell phones. Hopefully you guys can help.

I have Verizon as my service provided... had them for YEARS... and really have no issues so far. I'm inline to upgrade my phone however I dont want to jump right in.

Let me start off my saying that I'm looking for a quality cell phone.. NOT a camera, MP3 player with built-in microwave oven. I have a BlackBerry for work that I use for everything else..I am looking for good quality, light, with speaker phone. I've been eyeballin the Razr, but I want to hear what the Pro's have to offer... (yes, that you..!!)

Questions:
1. Staying with Verizon, what do you think would be the best phone
2. When does Verizon release their new line of cell phones and should I wait...?
3. What is your opionion of the Razr....?
4. As mentioned above, I've been looking at the Razr, however I see several models of the Razr... What is the newest model...?
5. I see a WIDE array of colors with the Razr with the different model numbers... I can't seem to make out all the differeneces...?

Anyone that can provide some input would be great..!!!

Thanks guys/gals...

Rick

1. Staying with Verizon, what do you think would be the best phone
i think this is a questiion that has to be answer by your own research

2. When does Verizon release their new line of cell phones and should I wait...?
once again your research will have to keep you updated on new releases... there are some new phones on the table but they have no release dates

3. What is your opionion of the Razr....?
see cell phone reviews at....http://cellphoneforums.net/cell-phone-reviews/

4. As mentioned above, I've been looking at the Razr, however I see several models of the Razr... What is the newest model...?
the newest is V3 series

5. I see a WIDE array of colors with the Razr with the different model numbers... I can't seem to make out all the differeneces...?
research verizon.com to see what colors they offer... since verizon will be your provider, some razr colors are only offered by certain providers.

good luck in your research.

1. Brand wise, I would suggest Motorola or LG. Simply put, they are the most reliable phones out there (in my opinion). You would do well to stop by a Verizon store to try out a few of our handsets, and make your own opinion.

2. Verizon is always putting new phones out. There are no specific "release dates". In fact, we do not find out about the new phones until they "pop up" in our system, and even then, there is no date attached to them.

3. I have had the RAZR V3c since the very first day it came out. I like it, but again, there are many other opinions out there. Spum, for instance, absolutely loathes the RAZR. Mine is 11 months old and still working like a charm. You will have to hold it and play with it to see if it will work for you.

4. There are only 2 models of the RAZR that are of concern to you as a Verizon customer: the V3c and the V3m. The V3c is the first CDMA RAZR and no longer available as new. the V3m is the multi-media RAZR with VCast and Music Player. The other phone by Motorola that banks on the RAZR's popularity is the KRZR. It is a nice phone; a little smaller than the RAZR, and tends to fit smaller hands better than the RAZR.

5. Verizon only offers their RAZR in 2 colors, silver and pink. As far as I know, there is no plan to introduce any additional colors in the near future. But, you never know with Verizon.

Just a clarification, all RAZRs are from the V3 series. As I mentioned in my previous post, Verizon's RAZRs are the V3c and V3m. All the rest are GSM models.

Re: A few Newbie Questions...??

I was looking for the same qualities in a phone as your are Rick. I settled on the mid-priced Samsung a870. Great call quality, nice speakerphone, and it has a small profile so it fits easily in your front pocket. Nothing fancy as far as options but is proving to be a solid phone.

My opinion of the Razr: I hate it, it's too wide. I did check out the KRZR yesterday at Best Buy and it seems like a nice phone. Well built and small enough to put in a pocket. The only unknown is call quality.

Here is a link to my review of the a870: Samsung a870: Let's hear the reviews

The KRZR offers similar sound and call quality to the RAZR.
