New V3M out of Warranty?


So I bought a 2 Month old Razr V3M from a friend. Well, I went to go activate it and it all went well unitl the phone all of the sudden didnt get any signal... Well, The Sales REP said that he couldnt do anything about it because Im not the original Purchaser and the warranty is void... Is this true? He told me that if I get the original receipt, he could switch it out for me... Does this sound right? I called Verizon and spoke to a tech and he couldnt get it going either... Any Ideas on my situation or the whats wrong with the phone? Thanks in advance...

The waranty issue is correct. Since you are not the original purchaser of teh phone, there is no record of your ownership, therefore, you get no warranty. However, as you were told by the rep, if you produce the original receipt, you will be covered by the warranty. Generally speaking, the manufacturer's warranty is transferable, with proof of ownership.

As for your particular troubleshooting issue, there could be numerous things wrong, from a defective phone to a failed activation.

what it basically boils down to is they dont know if the phone was stolen, swiped, or whatever you want to call it, it is your word against no proof you bought it off a friend, so naturally they are not going to give you a new phone without having proof you bought it.

You can get the warranty details in writing from the manufacturer. Please understand that it is not Verizon's warranty, but Motorola's. As DandyUSAF462 said, there is no way to know if the phone is stolen or legitimately transferred from one owner to another.

Can you get your friend to go to the store? I am assuming here, that he got it from a Verizon store.

Thanks for all your input guys... But this is what happen... My LGVX8500 Starting acting up...Not Receiving calls but being able to make them... I took the chocolate to a different store to have it checked out... Made Conversation with the guy and after an hour and one Re flash Later( Yay for Speaker Phone) my chocolate was working again... So, I pulled the razer out and told him that it also has be acting up lately... He pressed a few buttons and presto!!! The Razr Had service... Since he looked up my info using the Chocolate #, he didnt bother to see if the Razr was an Original phone to my account... I guess I got lucky...
