International Dialing - Help

My girlfriend is currently in Mexico. I have Verizon and she has Sprint and her phone works (or at least receives calls). Who will be charged for the International calls on this?

The one dialing is charged. Whoever's receiving the call still uses up airtime minutes as usual (unless the other country happens to be one of those that have free incoming calls on cell phones, e.g. Philippines. Not sure about Mexico.)

You really want to use a calling card if you're trying to make international calls from the cell phone. Then, it'll be treated like an 800 number call for you, and the calling card's rate will be far cheaper than what Verizon would offer for long distance.

Actually, you will still end up using airtime even if you use a calling card. I recently had a customer run up over 500 minutes of overage on her account using a calling card to Germany. She didn't pay any additional long distance, just airtime.

Well obviously, and I didn't say anything otherwise. 800 numbers use up airtime minutes. But, none of that matters if they're off-peak or you have lots of peak minutes.

The calling card is to avoid the high International rates.
