upgrade to family plan and switch numbers?

Im eligible for a free upgrade to chocolate phone on my single plan which I want to give to my daughter..I then want to change myplan to family plan and get a new phone for me(a cheaper phone of course)..will I be able to get a new number on my daughters chocolate phone for her and then take my old number and put it on my new phone..I hope that makes sense..The online operator told me its better to do things online because you get instant discouts..versus at the store..

Yeah, it should be easy. I think you just go ahead and do your phone upgrade, then "add line" online. When you get the phone, you can switch the phone numbers assigned to them online through "activate phone."

It is easy, but you can't do it online, since you will be trying to switch ESNs on 2 active phones. You will need to call customer service from a land line or other cell phone (so you are not using either of the phones you are trying to switch). You should wait about 24 hours after you complete the upgrade process, just to make sure everything processes through the system.

No, you can do it right away online with two active phones, my dad was ready for an upgrade so he got a V3M for my mom, so we activated that phone then switched them so he had his orginal phone right away.

That's because your Dad's original phone was deactivated when the line was upgraded to the new V3m. You Dad simply had to "reactivate" his old phone on his line, then activate teh new V3m on your Mom's line.

The question that has not yet been asked is, does Val's daughter already have a line of service with Verizon? If so, then it is very easy to do online, basically the same operation detailed above. However, if there is no existing line, then we are talking about flipping 2 activated phones. After reading Val's post again, it sounds like the daughter would be getting a brand new line of service. All Val has to do is upgrade the existing line, add a new line for her daughter, then call customer service to flip the 2 activated phones.

Thank to everyone for their responses..Paulcman is right..Im adding a line for my daughter but want to give her my new upgraded phone and I would use the new phone I get with the new line..so after I receive the phones I will call customer service and have them switched..
