If you use Verizon, at the beginning of the call you will be told "This call is airtime free." In other words, there are no charges associated with using that code. As for how often you should update, the official word is to do it every three months.

    Thanks,

With the Forced Update; is it *228, dial, then press 80? I tried it both ways and I still can't download a new PRL list. I just keep getting the same-old message that my phone couldn't be updated at this time.

I was wondering what those things meant for the past two years, lol. Thanks so much! Now I've been enlightened.

*228 80 means that you dial *22880 (in other words, 80 is part of the dial sequence), then press Send.

I am thinking about switching to Verizon. Can I use my unlocked phone with their SIM card?

What are these updates? Is this to make your signal stronger? My mother was told about something like this and I thought she was mistaken.

When I did the "00" it failed, but then again, so did the "80."

    Thanks for the tips.
