It surprises me that the phone company won't let you take your home number with you.

Really? Then you don't know Verizon very well.

They SUCK! Earlier this year they automatically withdrew money outta my bank account to pay my DSL bill. I had never signed up for them to do that! And I had been using their DSL for years! Worse, they took the money right before payday and I bounced 4 checks.
$35 for each bounced check=140 bucks.
I called them to complain and ask why they did this and they lady was real rude and told me that they are just gonna shut my DSL off then!!! Trust me, I was not being rude at all to this lady! I just kept asking her
NICELY who gave them the authority to take my money without my permission??!! And about 4 hours later they shut my DSL off!...and they just got paid for another month of service by taking my money!!
(2 months later I got a refund)
I'm with Earthlink for DSL now and ain't ever going back to Verizon.
back on topic:
If they would just let me take my old number to my new home I would be fine...but for some reason they said I can't. It's only about 15 miles away...same area code!!
I might have to get a new cell phone and use my old home number for it.
i.e. Have 2 cell phones.
It's the only solution I can come up with.
i've been waiting patiently for a year for this yellow page ad too!!
Thanx for your help!!
