Can trackable gps cell phones get you in trouble?

I currently have the cherry chocolate verizon phone. I read about how the gps is trackable and how they can listen to you. I am wondering I was looking at the phone in the car and it can tell you even how fast your going. Now I want to know if im speeding does verizon report it as information they possibly send out. They know u cant walk 100 mph and you sure as heck arent at a racetrack on the gps location your at. I read the article and it doesnt surprise me that fbi or government can even tap your onstar system. Which totally changed my mind about buying a onstar equipt vehicle. Call me paraniod but better to be paranoid than end up in jail for some stupid stuff right? FBI taps cell phone mic as eavesdropping tool This is the kind of stuff I hear about on news radio and privacy how it is right or wrong. Now yes it can be great say your car breaks down and your stuck up in alaska in the winter. But cell phones were invented for that so we can call. I would be satisfied if there was a feature to completely make it either call in or out with or without them being able to track you. Now say this happens your with a friend that has a ounce or pound of drugs right? Dont know he has it but he talks about it. Maybe your phone has the mic enabled or maybe anything with the technology today. Your driving in his car to go somewhere and u get busted. Maybe its a ticket or maybe they just pull u over for nothing and its related to the phone being bugged and they heard your friend talking about it. Maybe its not drugs maybe your just getting followed and watched because verizon had the logging of your average speed? Can it acctually go this far? If so how do you make the phone so when the battery is out it is COMPLETELY un useable. I have had a motorola v551 which had a main battery in it a little battery and a sim from cingular. I know if u take the sim out it wont send signal back and fourth. But if u take the battery out not the sim it has power to keep the clock and calls. Never the less power = transmitting signals. I dont dare disect my lg phone to see if theres a bettery in fear of breaking something. I just worry that one day im going to encounter some thing unusual like a ticket because possibly my phone is telling them what im doing and where im at. When I got the gps app it asked me when I could be tracked I said 24/7 but that was in thought that maybe I got into a accident and was un concious or something. Now I cannot change that option so it seems kinda weird. Any more links to this kind of thing where they are tracking people and busting them? It makes me wonder because I have been having days on the road where if I turn on my signal in my car to go right the person behind me signals but I go straight and they go straight. Or a mysterious call to my work asking if I left yet when I stop to see someone there and nobody knew I was going there. Thanks

I highly doubt verizon, let alone even law enforcement, would use the cell phone GPS to see how fast you're going.

Seriously, some people need to stop watching conspiracy theory movies. What a confused mess!

First of all, Verizon values customer privacy above all else. As a company, they ensure that your information is never provided without your specific consent. This goes as well for your GPS location information. Also, Verizon does not tap into your conversations, for any reason. If a Law Enforcement Agency provides a valid, cause based warrant, certain information can be provided, but only under the watchful eye of the issuing court officer.

I can't speak for the competition, but I can assure you that Verizon will never sell you out for any reason.
