Flix on 8300

Hello,

I'm guessing that this is a verizon specific issue since they load all of their phones with the same software.

I know I can make mp3s and send them to my phone viz e-mail at xxxxxxxxxx@vzwpix.com, but I'm wondering if it is possible to send flix that way as well to have as a desktop wallpaper or whatever.

If so...what format does the "flix" need to be in?

Currently I just play a video on my computer screen and capture that but it is kinda ghetto, the phone moves and there is glare.

Thanks in advance,
~Eric

As long as the flix is less than 200k and in 3g2 format, i don't see why it wouldn't work. Since you can send flix from phone to phone and phone to e-mail address, you should be able to do it.

Thanks, do you know of any tools offhand that will allow me to convert to that format?

Also, what resolution should something be at to be a wallpaper on the 8300? I'd like to make it exact so that no scaling will occur.

I am a little familiar with VirtualDub and AviSynth. I don't have that codec available for me to convert to. Is there an official site for that or a place to get a free codec?

Re: Flix on 8300

I was able to get a video on my phone via e-mail.

I resized the video to 176x184 which is what I found the suggested wallpaper size was. I did the resize using AviSynth and VirtualDub and then saved it as an avi file. From there I used 3GP Converter 0.34 from free-codecs to convert the avi to a 3gp file.

The problem I'm having now is that the video still isn't taking up the full screen even when I go into full screen mode. I'm guessing that the 176x184 took into account the menus and such that appear on the main screen but aren't there during fullscreen video playback.

The videos that I capture with the phone itself play back in full screen but appear to be stretched.

It would be great if someone that has a cable for their phone or a bluetooth connection could take a video with their 8300 and save it on their computer and e-mail it to me. Then I can figure out what the exact resolution is that the self-captured video is on the phone. I'd e-mail it to myself but thats not in my plan and also I'm afraid that it will go through a conversion process if I e-mail it from the phone. So if anyone out there is using BitPim with a cable or bluetooth, please e-mail me a little clip to eric.fredReMoVeThiSerich@g m a i l.com (remove the ReMoVeThiS from the name and the spaces).

The next step will be to figure out what the native resolution is for fullscreen playback which will probably have to be trial and error. Maybe it is time for me to order a cable or a bluetooth dongle.

Can anyone recommend a bluetooth dongle that will allow me to use BitPim? I heard they can be had for $10 on ebay.
