Cigular PDA / Verizon Mail Server

I just started working at a company that uses verizon wireless email server.

I have a brand new Cingular Windows Mobile PDA. Our It staff is telling me that there is no way to sync my Cingular phone with corporate email without buying a new verizon phone.

Does anyone know of a way to sync remotely with the verizon email server using a cingular PDA?

Re: Cigular PDA / Verizon Mail Server

the short version....GSM is not in anyway compatible with CDMA....so, without going through like a third party program (which I am not aware of any, the answer is no).

Thanks. I'm talking about wireless Outlook Access while traveling. I can't imagine I'm the only person with this issue.

The Verizon e-mail servers are only compatible with the Wireless Sync software. Likewise, the Wireless Sync software is only compatible with Verizon phones. True enough, your e-mail server issue has nothing to do with CDMA or GSM, but it does have everything to do with the phone itself.

Re: Cigular PDA / Verizon Mail Server

Here's feedback that I received from Cingular

Verizon Wireless doesn't really offer an E-Mail server service. Your company probabily has a GoodMobile Messaging Server, a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or an Exchange Server with Direct Push and Verizon is your main/approved carrier.

GoodMobile Messaging and BlackBerry Enterprise Server are carrier agnostic, that means you can use any approved device with your company's email platform.

If your company is using BlackBerry Enterprise Server then you will need a BlackBerry since Cingular 8525 is not compatible.

However, If your company is using GoodMobile Messaging Server you can ask your IT Department to add your Cingular 8525 so you will be able to receive your emails and calendar information from the Exchange Server.

Also, If your company is using Exchange with Direct Push, you can also ask your IT Department to add your Cingular 8525 and you will get also your information from the Exchange Server.

You need to contact your IT Department and confirm what kind of Service (GoodMobile, BlackBerry, DirectPush) they're using so you can take advantage of it.
