EV-DO VS 1X Question

I just got a Samsung A-930, and when I try to connect to the web It appears that the two signals are "fighting" over the connection until I get a "connection not available'" message.

I have disabled the EV-DO option though the secret menu to save battery life. But is it normal for the two signals to compete for access?

It's more likely the phone is trying to establish a connection first on one and then on the other and not getting it on either.

The phone will try to access via EV-DO and then go to a 1X connection. Because you make numerous connections in a normal page load (for various content) it can seem like it's "fighting" over it.

I'm not convinced going to 1x saves all that much battery power, but I'm in an area where EV-DO is just about everywhere.

My problem in not being able to connect with EV-DO off, I can do that just fine. It's when it is turned on that I am unable to connect.

When trying to connect I have 2 1X bars and 1 EV-DO bar. If I watch the screen when trying to connect I see the bar area switch back and forth between the two signals until I get the "Connection not available" message.

I just hope if it is the phone they can replace it since it has been discontinued and they only had 2 in stock when I got this one.

Well I took the phone to VZW tech and all it needed was a code changed. Works great now and the interrnet on the EV-DO system is much faster.
