I tried the Samsung u540 and it's ok, but the battery life was terrible (in my opinion) and when I told the guys at the Verizon store, they said it was using power all the time to connect to the towers. So if you live right next to a tower, you'll get better battery life than if you live where I do, out in the woods. If you live where I do, and you charge it on Saturday night, Monday afternoon it's dead even if you haven't used it. Oh, you can turn it off, but then it's not a phone anymore is it?
ALL THE NEW PHONES NEED TO BE CHARGED NIGHTLY IF YOU'RE USING THEM THE WAY THEY ARE INTENDED!!! If you are texting, browsing the web, getting music, or simply live outside a major metropolitan area and have less than perfect coverage...they won't last long on a charge!
If you're not using all that "stuff" then there's really no reason to buy a more powerful battery for the phone...
OK - THE SOLUTION !
After two phones, I moved over to an LG VX8700 and the tech in the Verizon store disabled the
EVDO capability on the phone for me. Now we're onto something. I've still got half my battery power after four days!
Ok, I'm not getting all the Vcast music/video/web/etc...but I don't really want to pay for all that extra service when I have a computer and an ipod in my briefcase too...and they do music and video better than any phone.
Hope this helps someone...
