#1 | | Newbie | Hey, recently I have had the Verizon Chaperone service put onto my phone. I think that it is a total invasion of privacy and it really bothers me to know that my parents know my location at all times. It is totally unwarranted as to why they put that service on my phone, there was no reason as to why they would have to do that. I have not had any problems with lieing and I talk to my parents on a daily basis letting them know what's going on. I told them how I felt about it, and they insist that it stays on my phone.
Regardless, I was wondering if anyone knew a way I could bypass the chaperone service without turning off my phone or being on a phone call, apparently they cant access the GPS service when I am on a phone call. Knowing that my parents are "spying" on me is very bothersome and if anyone knows a way I could bypass the service so they can't locate me or have them see me at a different location then I am really at. Or just some workaround so they can't see me 24/7, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

#2 | | Super Guy! | Why is it so "bothersome" if you aren't doing anything wrong? I can understand your feelings, and your desire for privacy... but if you are a minor then you really don't have any privacy rights because your parents are responsible for where you are and what you are doing. I'm sorry to say, but you need to get used to it, or start paying for your own service (ie prepaid, etc). I'm not an old "fogey" either, it's only been 10 years since I lived with my parents, but having grown up a little I can look back and see a lot of times when my "privacy" was totally invaded, and for my own good.

#4 | | Daderator | I will bet the only time they will ever use this service is if you go out of the area they have set up.
I have this on my teenage daughters phone, and the only time (and it has only been once) that I have had anything to do with it is when I was contacted that she was out of town (out of her prescribed area).
My kid basically whined just like you are doing. You know what, it's not that I am spying on her, it's more that I am concerned/worried about her.
I told her the same thing that has already been mentioned.....if you don't like it...give me the phone back. Guess what....she's still talkin up a storm.....lol

#6 | | Daderator | LOL.....try and tell my daughter to turn her phone off....or to get off from it or stop texting.....like trying to get a piece of meat away from a hungry lion.

#8 | | Newbie | If you think about it just a tiny bit you will realize that the Chaperone service is a great safety factor. If you are in an accident or get mugged and are unconscious or even if you are kidnapped, your parents will be able to locate you. Innumerable lives have already been saved becuz of GPS chips in cell phones, did you know that? I am putting it on my phone and I'm GLAD to have a friend track me if need be. And I ask, as someone else did, why do you mind if you aren't going anywhere you shouldn't? Hmmmm?

#9 | | Junior Member | If it's that important, get your own phone. There are lots of cheap alternatives. Use the Verizon phone in 'safe' areas, use the other when you want to hide. As long as they are paying for the phone, they get to know its whereabouts. If you're old enough to be responsible, then you can get your own phone.
Do look at the other side of the subject. Do they want to know where you are because they're snooping, or because they want you to be safe? I know you would never admit you like the feature, but you should appreciate it.
