Phone or verizon issue?

Hi

I recently purchased a refurbished xv 6700 off of ebay about 2 weeks ago. I received the 1st phone and tried to activate it online - did not work because of the data plan needed. I am coming from an LG chocolate. Anyways, after it was "activated" and then programmed with *228 option 1. Everytime I made a call out I was in the extended network. After being on the phone and double checking a lot of settings I could still not connect to any of the verizon network numbers like #832 nor could I receive any phone calls. I could not update the towers with *228 option 2 because of not connecting to the verizon network. I was told the phone was broken.

So I managed to get a replacement phone from the ebay buyer. After receiving the phone and tried activating this one. I am having the same problem again. Going to extended network (I can stay in the verizon network by clicking Home in the phone options versus automatic and can't receive any phone calls. I did manage to get 1 test call through in the past 72 hours). I am still waiting on a verizon ticket with tech support. Tried taking the phone into the store and was told that it was a weird problem. Never seen it before, thinks the phone is broken. I'm not positive its broken but I'm very frustrated with this now.

So my question is. Is this really an issue with verizon service? or is that I keep receiving faulty phones?

I would say there's something wrong with a setting on your plan. Did you ever get this resolved?

Re: Phone or verizon issue?

I spent over 8 hours with verizon on the phone and higher tech people and took the phone to 2 seperate verizon stores. One guy was nice enough to spend an hour with tech support to. I was told by every single person that nothing was wrong on their system settings and the phone settings that the phone was defective.

I am getting a refund and looking at my options now.
