Anyone use the 8830 overseas?

I'm looking for someone who has used the Blackberry 8830, particularly overseas. I am a happy Treo 700 user, with the only downside I see to it being it's lack of ability to receive SIMM cards for overseas use. So I was happy to see that the 8830 is a global phone, but i'm curious to find out if it is a good quality phone (I'm sure its email capability is fine), and i'm curious about its ease of use when travelling in Europe. Any comments would be appreciated.
