so my phone got stolen, anonymously returned, and damaged by water

^ and all in that order. i got my phone stolen a few days ago, and it was anonymously returned to me but it had water damage when i got it back. i absolutely cannot turn this thing on.

i already got verizon to deactivate the phone hours after it was stolen, and they know it was stolen. now that i have it back, what will get me a free phone - saying that it was stolen and damaged by whoever stole it, or it's just stolen and i never got it back?

how does asurion or whatever handle this? i already got my phone replaced for water damage (a better RAZR at that)

any help is appreciated.

If you have insurance I imagine a 50 deductable and you are of and running. If not I am not sure. Give um a call. Did you file a police report?

Sorry to say, that unless you had insurance on your phone, you are bascially out of luck.

It's like if your car was stolen, without insurance, the car will not be replaced nor will you get any money for the stolen car.

I'm not saying this is you by any means...but this is what the major carrier's get all the time:

My phone was stolen, then I got it back...but it don't work. Because I didn't do anything wrong, you owe me a new phone.

But, in reality, they mess up the phone somehow, call in everything all nice and proper...saying the phone was stolen, even going so far as to call the police...but really, they are just trying to scam a new phone out of the carrier or company because they messed up.

All carrier's have seen this...many, many, many times, and now say, "Sorry for your loss, but without insurance, there's really nothing we can do."

So, unless you have insurance on your phone, you are bascially out of luck....and me personally, all I can say is, "Man, sorry for your loss."
