Is it possible to set a cell phone to display a 'restricted' caller's number? I know land lines can do this, force the caller to dial *86 (or something similar) before dialing your number, is there a way to do that with a Verizon Motorola V325?

A "restricted caller's" number is blocked at the switch, meaning you will never get the number. It means that the caller has activated a feature on their Verizon account called "Caller ID Block". It has nothing to do with your phone, it is blocked at the network level.

Verison wireless is compiling a list of users requesting this option. Politely call and register your number. They do not have an special department to talk to, you just will have to leave a complaint with Custoner Service.

Does this mean that there is a way to find out who those restricted callers are? I always thought that those numbers were private through the caller's phone company, so I don't get how "registering your number" will affect the caller's settings. The only way that I know to get restricted numbers to show is for the person calling you to dial *82 before your number.

There is no such list, and there is no such option. If Verizon were to offer this service, they would almost certainly be sued for it.

If you really need the caller's phone number, get a court order (generally, the calls have to be harassing for this to be possible).

Harassment-Persistent words, conduct or actions directed at an individual that badger, annoy, threaten or cause substantial emotional distress.

I've seen many deffinitions. But I have also seen that it becomes harassment after you ask them to stop calling.

After you have asked them to stop, it is harassment, which is illegal.

Well, if you ask them to stop and they continue to call, it is harassment.

Harrassment can have many definitions but plainly if it gets to the point you feel uncomfortable and your personal life is effected then yah make a police report. But if you ask them to stop if you can do so and they stop then let it roll of your back.
Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

If you want to get the phone number of a restricted number, you can use TrapCall (do a google search for it) It works pretty well, but I don't know how much it would cost for you.

If you just want to block restricted numbers, Verizon has a phone app called "Do Not Disturb" that's really easy to use. You can get it by texting "dnd" to "apps" (363 to 2777), or go look for it under Media Center or Get It Now... it also blocks all sorts of other stuff, too, and I use it because I used to get a lot of harassing calls from restricted numbers.
