#1 | | Newbie | I have some person or machine that keeps calling my phone- it comes up on caller ID as a 13 digit # with a 234 country code (nigeria- wonderful) that I am unable to answer OR dial back on- phone rings, nobody there about 3x a day, last 5 days. I would like to get this # blocked, but the folks at verizon tell me this is not possible- how can this be? any suggestions?
TIA
Tom

#2 | | Junior Member | store it as "do not answer" and set the ringer to silent for that person.
you wont hear it, and if you happen to notice the call it will say dont answer

I does work. Just make sure you also don't have vibrate set on either.

#4 | | Newbie | Verison wireless is compiling a list of users requesting this option. Politely call and register your number. They do not have an special department to talk to, you just will have to leave a complaint with Customer Service.

#6 | | Sr. Member | Verizon can block 1 number from calling your phone for 60days. It requires a Trouble Ticket to be submited and usually a 1 to 3 day turn around for the block to be put in place. I am not sure if international numbers can be blocked...

#7 | | Junior Member | Yeah, I've been getting a lot of people calling for the last person who had my number and it's gotten to the point that I just don't even pick the phone up and store the numbers in a custom group as mentioned above. Plus it never hurts on those slow days at work to have a list of numbers to call and mess with.

just my .02 | Verizon blocks 1 number for free. The 4.99 is for usage controls one of the features allows you to block up to 20 numbers, but it also allows you to put in text message restrictions , time restrictions, minute restrictions and blocked and trusted numbers to a phone. The 4.99 is mainly aimed at parents trying to control thier kids phone bill.

#11 | | Sr. Member | well... if you're like me when i was a kid, it was like this "you want a phone, go buy yourself a prepaid phone."
great way to learn about responsibility and not take things for granted. Quote:

You would most likely have to get the FCC involved. Carriers can't take action against someone in another country. I personally think Nigeria should be nuked until nothing is left, because almost every type of scam comes from there. I once set up a profile on a dating site, and 2 of the women turned out to be a guy in Nigeria trying to scam money from people. I sold a phone on Ebay once, and the guy who won at the last possible moment was in Nigeria trying to pay me with a stolen check. I could go on like this forever. It's pathetic that the rest of the world has to suffer because the Nigerian government refuses to take action against these people.
Just don't answer the phone from those numbers anymore. Because you may end up getting a $5000 phone bill! And report the numbers to the police and the FCC.

Just stupid!

Just stupid! | A company is in business to make money....its the whole principle. They block 1 number as a courtesy if it called at least 5 times in 5 days.
