Buying phone from eBay, get insurance?

I've got a pretty simple question that I'm sure I already know the answer to, but...

Say I buy a phone on ebay, then activate it, is it applicable for the TEC insurance through Verizon?

Right now I have the vx8300 and am very satisfied with it, but my sister has a vx8300 and it's insured, but she was wondering if she bought one on ebay, if she would still be able to get the TEC insurance.

I'm gonna bet no, but maybe someone else out there can confirm that for me?

no, you won't be able to put insurance on it. Only phones bought through or from Verizon can have insurance put on them.

Isn't there 3rd parties you can go through though?

Yeah, I figured that was probably the case.

I'll just tell her to keep her 8300 as a backup.
