Has Verizon customer service gone to crap?

I found a verizon phone, and immediately contact customer service (because I know how bad it sucks when I lose a phone) they said we cannot help you here please go to a local store. Now why and the he** would I go 50 miles out of my way, when its probably someone in this building who lost there phone. There response was sir I apologize, but we cannot assist you.

Poor Service, lucky I have t-mobile I know if someone found my phone and contacted them they would call or email me right away.

Did they indicate that the phone was reported lost or stolen?

If I was you, i'd wait for a call (owner will call the phone sooner or later)..and let him know that you found the phone and expect a tip.
Because VERIZON/SPRINT/CINGULAR has a very poor customer service comparted to T-Mobile. (according to customer surveys, and I experienced myself)

i've had nothing but great luck with verizon's customer service.

i recently updated my old phone to a new one, and wanted to change my current family plan, along with add a couple of features to the plan.
i called customer service approxamtly 1.8 million times in the last month () and was always able to get to a live person in a very reasonable time (i think the longest i had to wait was only about 2 minutes).
they were always friendly, very easy to understand, and more then willing to answer my barrage of questions for them.

compared to other customer service places i've had to call. . .verizon is by far the best i've ever dealt with (god aol is a freaking nightmare. . .lol).

Try calling a number on the phone (home may be a listing) or the most called number. Call a phone with caller id and try a reverse lookup online. There are plenty of things you can do to find out who owns the phone.
